Service Description
In this group, you will learn about the various dimensions of sleep health which include: How irregular/REGULARITY sleep is harmful to our health; SATISFACTION from sleep is important but you can't get overly focused and must work at improving quality; get a better understanding of how your ALERTNESS during the day and use of stimulants is masking the quality of your sleep; get an in-depth look at how TIMING of when you sleep is important; learn about the importance of the EFFIENCY of your sleep; and discuss the DURATION of your sleep and the impact to your health. You will get handouts, digital journals, roadmaps, guide on how to talk to your primary care physician about your sleep health and more helpful resources. One resource you will receive is a guide on how undiagnosed sleep disorders can ruin a relationship and also a career. You will also get a guide on what to expect from your sleep medicine experience and tips on how to be a collaborative partner and step into being an informed, engaged and empowered patient. This group is appropriate who are not formally diagnosed with a sleep disorder yet. The group will provide you more than a support system, it will provide skills you can then use to optimize your engagement with sleep treatment.
